Solar Fire v6 Deluxe Updates Revision History.
===========================
SOLAR FIRE DELUXE - UPDATES
===========================
Listed in Reverse Chronological Order
Note: See this message in our forum for more information on how to select the new planets.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.32 - 16 Jul 2007
----------------------------
* Chart format conversion - new version of ETConv.exe
reduces likelihood of errors when converting *.SFCht (v6)
format chart files back to older formats.
* Alcabitius Houses - when calculating a chart in polar
regions, using this house system could have caused a
program hang. Now automatically reverts to equal house
system instead.
* Vista - updated preferences settings were not immediately
reflected in the settings displayed on front screen. Now
fixed.
* Solar Maps Lite - no longer reads invalid paths from
solmap2.ini, and only writes paths if INI doesn't already
exist. Also, the preferences dialog can now cope with
invalid preferences file path without crashing.
* Solar Maps Lite - after uninstalling Solar Maps v5, Solar
Maps sometimes failed to start with invalid path or missing
file messages. This was due to an old path being left in
C:\Windows\solmap2.ini, and could be fixed by deleting this
file. However, this should no longer be necessary. (New
Solarmap.exe v2.1.3)
* Chart Open - added a popup hint to drop-down button to
right of File button, as some users do not realise that
this shows only recently used files, and is not the same
as the File button.
* Electional Search / Coordinates - searching for a
condition with a point being equal to a particular
coordinate value produces no results. This is expected,
because the electional search cannot find an instantaneous
event. A warning message for the user was produced prior to
v6.0.29, but due to changes in the algorithms used, this
message no longer appeared. It has now been re-instated.
* D30 divisional chart - odd/even signs were incorrectly
assigned. Now fixed.
* Relocated Charts with Lunar Parallax - When using Chart /
Locality / Relocated, if the Lunar Parallax option was
switched on, then relocating the chart should have resulted
in a small change in the Moon's position, but did not. Now
fixed.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.31 - 27 Feb 2007
----------------------------
* Windows Vista - Removed registration of *.cht and *.SFcht
file types, to avoid possiblity of a crash when running
Solar Fire with inadequate privilege to modify the
registry. File registration is now done in the installation
program instead, which always has adequate privilege.
* Animation - if you had more than 15 charts in the list of
calculated charts, and used the Chart button to select an
alternative chart, then a crash was possible when clicking
on the alternative base chart to select it. The likelihood
of a crash increased as the number of caclulated charts
increased. Now fixed.
* Age Harmonic Charts - calculation of age harmonic was
fractionally incorrect due to inclusion of DeltaT. Caused
only tiny discrepancy. Now fixed.
* Age Harmonic Charts - it is not possible to set the Natal/
Relocated option in this screen, and it should always be
pre-set to Relocated, but was sometimes pre-set to Natal.
Now fixed.
* D30 divisional chart - calculation glitch produced
an incorrect chart - now fixed.
* Graphic Ephemeris - Sidereal zodiac - lunation points were
shown with tropical positions. Now fixed.
* Topocentric Houses with sidereal zodiac - the 7th house
cusp was miscalculated, resulting in a distortion of the 6th
and 7th houses. Now fixed.
* Graphic Ephemeris - if user had a black background and
a planet color was also black, then the radix line was not
visible. Black lines on black background are now
automatically set to white.
* Atlas lookup for state "WA" - Was assuming user wanted
"Western Australia" rather than Washington state. Now checks
user's default location and assumes Australia only if
the current default timezone is in Asia/Australasia.
* Electional Search - searching for Planet in Dignity/Face
caused a program crash. Now fixed.
* LifeL_SC.tsk - Updated to increase Mercury cycle to 405 days
and Venus cycle to 445 days, to ensure an entire cycle is
always included in the report.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.30 - 27 Nov 2006
----------------------------
* SF Atlas - added newly legislated daylight savings for
Western Australia (trial for 3 years), starting 3rd Dec 2006.
* Updated asteroid and new planet files to refer to dwarf
planets instead of "possible new" planets, and to "Eris"
instead of UB313.
* Added new ephemeris file for Eris - s136199.se1
* Added new Astrologer's Assistant task file named
LifeL_SC.tsk, titled "Life Listing (Clement)" - Based on
"Astrology of Development", forthcoming Llewellyn book by
Stephanie Clement, Ph.D. Runs a series of merged dynamic
reports including aspects of each planet to its natal
position up to the first planetary return or end of life.
Used to identify physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual
developmental timing. NB - refers to aspect selection file
"cycles.asp" to determine which aspects are included in each
planetary return cycle. If you wish to include aspects other
than 12th harmonic, then edit this aspect set.
* Topocentric Houses - in arctic regions using Topocentric
houses could cause a program freeze. This has now been fixed.
* View chart/s in Kepler - added View menu item to send
charts for viewing in the Kepler program, if it is installed.
This only appears as an item in the View menu if Kepler v7
with update of 11 Oct 2006 or later is installed. (Earlier
versions cannot accept charts sent this way). Invoking this
menu item sends all currently selected charts to Kepler,
starting the Kepler program if it was not already running.
* New Chart Angles - added Munkasey's Co-Ascendant and Polar
Ascendant to Basic Chart Analysis report, for any natal type
chart.
* Flexible Points List page objects - if user had selected to
sort by a particular column when these had multiple blocks,
then only the last block was sorted. Now fixed.
* Unidrectional Aspects in Synastry Aspect Grids - Each grid
square now shows the aspect (if any) FROM the point on the
left of the row TO the point at the top of the column.
However, these were being shown even when the aspect was in
orb only in the opposite direction to this. Now fixed.
* Rulerships - if default rulership level is not set to
"Traditional", then its setting may be lost when selecting
different report types. Now fixed.
* Astrologer's Assistant - when running tasks including
dynamic reports, the default aspect set was sometimes changed
after running the task. Now fixed.
* Astrologer's Assistant - dynamic reports duration always
showed chosen period as years, even when was actually
selected as months as days. However, the duration was still
correctly saved, so worked correctly when the task was run.
Now fixed.
* Data error - standard.int was missing 13Gem sabian symbol.
Now added. New file standard.int is dated 1st Jan 2005, so it
will not overwrite the existing file if the user has made
custom edits since that date.
* Added new starfile - GC.fst (Galactic Center).
* Interpretations - In Animation module, if inner chart was a
"transits" type chart, then inter-chart interpretations text
was synastry type text. This now defaults to transits type
text instead.
* Add new wheel files BiExtra1.wh2 and BiExtra2.wh2 for
viewing extra ring points in biwheels.
* Time Map - with non-tropical zodiac, in some cases was
showing spurious hit numbers (eg. hit 5 of 3) for multi-hit
transits, and thus also showing incorrect linking lines
between hits. Now fixed.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.29 - 18 Aug 2006
----------------------------
* Proposed "Planet" Definitions by IAU - Classifies Ceres,
Charon (twin with Pluto) and 2003 UB313 as planets, and allow
12 other bodies to possibly also be classified as planets in
the future. Most of these were already available in SF6.
However, the following additions have been made
1) Ephemeris files have now been added to include all the
other new and possible planets.
2) Two new asteroid selection files have been added -
"UB313.ast" containing the single new planet 2003 UB313, and
"NewPlan.ast" containing 2003 UB313 plus the remaining 12
possible new planets.
3) An extra ring points file has been added - "NewPlan.pte"
containing all the new planets and possible future planets.
* New Page added - called "New and Possible Planets (IAU
2006)" (newplan.pag). This will appear under the "General"
category heading of the Pages dialog.
* New Wheel style added - uniextr5.wh1 (used by newplan.pag).
* Dynamic Report - when printed, if any column of the report
was too narrow for its data to fit, then it would partially
overwrite the following column's data. Now, if data does not
fit, it is trimmed and a trailing ellipsis appended to
indicate that it has been truncated, thus avoiding any
potential overwriting.
* Zod. Analogue Local Horizon chart - was displaying a mirror
image of Zod. Analogue Azimuth chart, but should simply have
been a rotation of it. Now fixed.
* Synastry grids - if user edited the synastry grid object
properties to set different displayed points for the "across"
and "down" charts, then double-clicking on a cell in the grid
to view interpretations resulted in an incorrect planet pair
aspect interpretation being displayed. Now fixed.
* Tech support by email - updated to report Windows 2003
and Vista version numbers in reported information.
* Electional Search - implemented improved search algorithm
which combines all conditions in each time step, and avoids
missing overlaps within the same time period. Also improved
status message to give more frequent and accurate feedback on
progress. (Can revert to old search method by adding
"SearchType=1" under [Solar Fire] section of INI file).
* Electional Search Results - copy to clipboard now separates
fields with tabs instead of blanks. This makes it possible to
paste results into a spreadsheet with automatic assignments
of different fields to different columns, instead of all in
one column.
* Midpoint Tree Page Object - has an aspect file setting, but
this had no effect on the results shown in the listing. This
behaviour is now modified, so that if the user chooses a
specific aspect file for this page object, then only those
midpoints results which are for an aspect that is switched on
in the specified aspect set will be shown. However, if the
user has not chosen a specific aspect set (ie. the default
aspect set applies), then any and all midpoints are shown for
the specified modulus, regardless of which aspects are
switched on or off in the aspect set, as was always the case
previously. NB - Warning - if the user now chooses a specific
aspect set in combination with a modulus which has no
corresponding aspects switched on in that aspect set, then no
midpoints will be found at all.
* Search - when window re-activated, base chart for settings
reverts to current chart on main screen. Now retains last
user-selection instead.
* Planet Bar - if user set the zodiac preference to a non-
tropical default, then the pop-up hints showed incorrect
ingress times for the Sun and Moon. Now fixed.
* Aspect filtering by individual aspect - did not include any
user-defined aspects in list of available aspects. Any user-
defined aspects in the currently selected aspect set are now
also included in this list.
* Aspect filtering by individual aspect - if the user-defined
aspect had an overlapping orb with any other (non user-
defined) aspect which was in the current aspect set, then it
was not found via this filtering option, as the non user-
defined aspect took precedence and if it was within orb, then
this prevented further searching for non user-defined
aspects. However, filtering by individual aspects now works
regardless of any orb overlaps with any other aspects in the
aspect set.
* Overlapping aspect orbs - in any cases where aspect orbs
overlapped, then Solar Fire preferred whichever aspect
appears earlier in its standard list of aspects (ie.
conjunction, opposition, trine, square etc.). However a new
INI file setting has now been added which allows the user to
set the order of preference, thus allowing minor aspects to
take precedence over more major aspects if they wish. To do
so, an entry like the following must appear under the
[Solar Fire] section of the solfire6.ini file.
AspectOrder=010203040506070809101112131415161718192021222324
The value must consist of 24 2-digit zero-filled integers in
the range 01 to 24, representing the ordinal value of each of
the 24 standard aspects of longitude in Solar Fire
(conjunction=01, opposition=02, trine=03, square=04, ...
quintile=10, ... triseptile=16 etc.). If the value has more
or less than 24 integers in it, or if any integer value is
outside the range 01 to 24, or if any integer is duplicated,
then the entire entry will be ignored, and the normal default
order of aspects will be adopted by Solar Fire. The example
above replicates the default order. The following example
reverses the entire order, so aspects which appear later in
its standard list of aspects are preferred over those
appearing earlier.
AspectOrder=242322212019181716151413121110090807060504030201
Note that these settings have no effect whatsoever unless the
aspect set in use defines aspects which have orbs which
overlap other aspects in the same aspect set, and then only
when an angle in the chart actually falls into the overlap
region.
* Electional search - could crash if using parallel or
contra-parallel aspects in combination with aspect sets
containing user-defined aspects. Now fixed. Also now
automatically reassigns such aspects correctly when changing
aspect set, and prompts user with a warning message if any
aspects cannot be reassigned to aspects in the newly selected
aspect set.
* Electional Search Results - copy to clipboard function now
adds timezone information to the entry for each event.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.28 - 24 May 2006
----------------------------
* Online help file - updated for recent changes.
* Emailing charts - when emailing a calculated chart as an
attached SFv6 chart file, any life events and comments which
that chart included were ignored, even if the option to include
was selected. Now fixed.
* Swiss Ephemeris - has been updated to v1.70.2. All relevant
IAU resolutions up to 2005 have been implemented, including:
- the "frame bias" rotation from the JPL reference system ICRS
to J2000. The correction of planetary positions ~= 0.0068 arc
sec in right ascension.
- the precession model P03 (Capitaine/Wallace/Chapront 2003).
The correction in longitude is smaller than 1 arc second from
1000 B.C. on.
- the nutation model IAU2000B
- corrections to epsilon
- corrections to sidereal time
* Angle rounding - algorithm has been modified to prevent
rounding into next sign. This is to lessen the likelihood of a
misunderstanding occuring where the animation module is used to
find the exact time of a planetary sign ingress. If the angle
rounding option is "on", then the time of ingress apparently
found in the animation module was actually the time when the
planet was 1/2 minute arc prior to the ingress (rounded up to
the next sign). This rounding will no longer occur, so ingress
times found this way will be correct. (NB - In order to get
ingress times most efficiently, it is recommended that you use
the Charts / Returns & Ingresses menu option. This is the
quickest and most accurate method.)
* Email options - some email clients caused Solar Fire to
freeze until the email was either sent or cancelled. This
now runs in a seperate thread which avoids any freeze. (New
ETSF0002.dll - v1.0.5.0)
* Flexible Points List Page Object / Directed Charts - The
declinations shown in this table are derived directly from the
long/lat of each directed point, which differed from other
reports in Solar Fire, which were using Jayne's method for
directing declination. Now this tabulation also show values
based on Jayne's method of directing declinations.
* Void of Course - previously the VoC definition always
included planets out to Pluto (except for Electional
considerations Lilly VoC option). This is now a user-defined
option - user can choose to set default as Modern definition
(planets out to Pluto), Traditional definition (planets out to
Saturn), or Lilly definition (planets out to Saturn and signs
Cn, Ta, Sg, Pi have no VoC). This can be selected under the
Preferences / Edit Settings / Calculations tab.
* Electional Search - if search location had a fixed timezone
(ie. no daylight savings periods), then search hits always
appeared with +0:00 (UT) timezone, instead of the actual
timezone for that location. Now fixed.
* Rulership level - The rulership level can be chosen in the
reports screen and in interpretations dialog menu. Previously
it was always set to the first rulership level upon program
startup (which is normally "Modern"), and if the user wanted to
apply another level of rulerships (such as "Traditional") then
they had to reselect that setting each time they ran the
program. However, the user-selected rulership level is now
retained across sessions.
* Swiss Ephemeris Asteroids - Solar Fire did not recognise any
asteroid ephemerides with numbers over 99999. Now recognises
ephemerides with 6 digit asteroid numbers.
* ACS Lookup - on lookup, if countryname is missing or invalid,
then presents a list of countries in which requested cityname
exists (or if none, then whole list of countries). If
countryname is "US" or "USA", then presents a list of US States
in which requested cityname exists.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.27 - 20 Mar 2006
----------------------------
* Real Time Clock - If close SF while the animation window is
still open with the clock running continuously since it was
first opened, then got crash upon close. Now fixed.
* Graphic Ephemeris - cursor crosshairs now extends across full
graph when user holds down left hand mouse button.
* Patch update now installs FindCity.dll into Solar Fire System
folder. This is to circumvent other programs which overwrite
Windows\System32 FindCity.dll with older versions.
* Help File - updated for recent enhancements to Graphic
Ephemeris, and corrections were made to table of Egyptian
terms.
* Primary Mundane Directions - in dynamic report, dynamic
house placements (in column H1) were spurious. These now show
the correct mundane house placement.
* Preferences Dialog - possible crash when preferences dialog
invoked. This occurs on only very few computers, and is due to
an "access violation" inside FindCity.dll (which is an ACS
Atlas component). To reduce the possiblity of this problem
ocurring, calls to FindCity.dll to initialise the ACS Atlas
have now been reduced to the minimum necessary. Previously the
atlas was re-initialised via FindCity.dll whenever the
Preferences dialog was opened. This now only occurs if the user
deliberately switches between the built-in and stand-alone ACS
Atlases.
* Interpretations in Animated Biwheels - when obtaining
interpretations for interchart aspects with transits to a natal
chart, the interpretations were for synastry aspects (from
synastry.int). This was because the animated transits charts
was incorrectly recognised and treated as if it was another
natal chart. In such cases the interpretations should be for
transiting aspects (from transits.int). Now fixed.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.26 - 23 Feb 2006
----------------------------
* Graphic Ephemeris - Has two new options:
1) Sign changes may be marked with sign glyphs where planet
lines cross graph edges and bullets on planet lines within
graphs where the sign changes.
2) Lunations may be marked with symbols on the graph for new
moon, full moon, lunar eclipse, solar eclipse. Note that the
lunations option is specific to the saved settings, whereas the
other ephemeris options such as sign changes, aspect symbols
etc. are all independent of saved settings.
* Stretched or wide desktop - error whilst drawing page may
occur if single or stretched desktop (across monitors) exceeds
about 2100 pixels wide. Now fixed.
* Solar Fire Atlas - Daylight savings - Updated Australian
daylight savings times to take account of special changes for
2006 only, and extended tables until 2015. Updated and extended
US daylight savings times to take account of DS extension from
2007. Extended various other tables to 2015 eg. Western Europe,
Eastern Europe, UK, New Zealand. NB - These changes affect the
Solar Fire Atlas only - not the ACS Atlas. Changes to the ACS
atlas will be supplied via a separate patch update, when they
become available.
* In-place property editing of page objects - star, asteroid
and parts aspects page objects which had no aspect set selected
all displayed the name of the default aspect set for planets
instead the default for stars, asteroids or parts respectively.
Now fixed.
* Life Events - after editing life events for a chart, casting
a new chart replaced that chart on the list of calculated charts
instead of being added as a new entry to the end of the list.
Now fixed.
* User defined aspects - was limited to using glyphs which are
keyboard characters. User may now also paste in any character
in the ET Symbol font (using Ctrl+V when the aspect glyph box
has the focus).
* Direction by Term - page object tabulation was sometimes
truncated. This was caused by iteration failing to converge
within specified maximum time steps. This maximum has now been
increased, so truncation will be much more rare. Note that
these types of directions cannot necessarily always be calculated
at high latitudes, due to anomalous motion of the ascendant.
* Advanced returns - if casting multiple returns charts
consecutively for more than one base chart, then the user had to
reselect the base chart from the Returns & Ingress dialog in
order to avoid a crash. Now fixed.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.25 - 30 Nov 2005
----------------------------
* Chart drawing - In very crowded houses, planet glyphs
sometimes overplotted one another. Now fixed.
* Harmonic charts - when saved and reopened were marked as
unsaved. Now marked as saved if opened from file.
* Solar Maps Lite - In rare circumstances Solar Maps Lite
cannot be run, and shows error 53 - File not found. This is
normally due to a corrupt path entry in solmap2.ini. Now
ignores any corrupt path entries, thus avoiding this error.
* Longituge Equivalent of Declination - after reopening
stored chart, details were incorrect. Now fixed.
* Zodiacal analogue charts - added under Chart / Harmonic
menu item: Zodiacal analogues of Latitude, R.A., Declination,
Azimuth, Local Horizon, Prime Vertical (Campanus Mundoscope),
Prime Vertical Amplitude, Diurnal Arc (Placidus Mundoscope).
* Receiving emailed chart files - when activating a Solar
Fire Deluxe chart file received by email (by clicking on the
chart file's icon), any comments included with the emailed
chart were not visible. Now fixed.
* Chart & Electional Search - Coordinates involving angular
speeds, latitudes, declinations and altitudes displayed
values truncated the the nearest minute of arc. This has been
enhanced to allow entry and display of angles containg
seconds of arc.
* Vedic / Square charts - when displayed at small sizes, the
glyphs sometimes overlapped, reducing readability. Layout has
now been improved by adjusting spacing and reducing font size
when many glyphs appears in the same area of the chart.
* View Full Interpretation Report - user's selection of
degree text category was not being remembered between
sessions. Now fixed.
* Copying charts to PDF - charts with zodiac color fills had
no color fill when copied to PDF. Now fixed.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.24 - 26 Oct 2005
----------------------------
* Aspect Patterns - added ability to search for 3, 4 and 5
point stelliums. Note that these are "tight" stelliums ie.
stelliums where all points are conjunct one another according
to the current orbs in the selected aspect set. Also removed
hard-coded stelliums item from Aspects Analysis report, to
avoid duplication within that report.
* Electional and Chart Search - Aspect Pattern preview window
now opens displaying currently selected aspect pattern,
instead of first pattern on list.
* Multiwheel selection - both Antiscia and Contrascia charts
were identified solely as Antiscia when listed on the
multiwheel selection dialog. Now fixed.
* Prenatal charts - for base charts which used a non-tropical
zodiac, the calculated prenatal charts were incorrect. Now
fixed.
* Chart Search - Printing list of charts found results in
correct chart details, but incorrect chart names. Now fixed.
* Time Map - for map duration longer than 10 years, the date
markers now show month and year instead of month and day.
Also, the cursor now shows the date as it is moved over the
map, and can be controlled with the keyboard arrow keys.
* Dynamic reports - reports may now be sorted by clicking on
the column headers. For example, clicking on the EXL column
header will sort the report by E/X/L Event, and clicking on
the P1 column will sort it by Point 1. Also, reports may now
be sorted by zodiacal positions of each hit for Point1 or
Point 2.
* Flexible point list page object with node positions column
- node information did not appear unless a column was also
added showing the node's travel. Now fixed.
* Extra ring point selection with asteroids - adding
asteroids from within large asteroid selections to the an
extra ring point selection caused frequent delays while
refilling asteroid file lists. Now fixed.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.23 - 02 Sep 2005
----------------------------
* Chart files with more than 800 to 1000 charts or more – produces
overflow message. However, charts files are not corrupted, and can
be re-opened without problem with this Solar Fire update. Now
fixed.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.22 - 09 Aug 2005
----------------------------
* Subsidiary charts - selection of charts dialog - when using
large fonts, this dialog was too narrow. Now fixed.
* Dynamic Report / Primary Directions of Fixed Stars - those fixed
stars which did not cross the horizon in their diurnal movement
were being attributed the same hit dates as the star preceding
them in the star file. Now fixed - such stars no longer show any
hits.
* Electional Search - Using Planetary Hour and Planetary Day in
critieria could lead to erroneous results. Now fixed.
* Grids - aspect orbs which exceeded 10 degrees sometimes did not
fit into box width. Now a smaller font is used if the maximum
possible orb exceeds 10 degrees.
* Dynamic reports - Moon Void of Course - could give spurious VoC
entries in isolated cases. Now fixed.
* Dynamic reports - report header did not indicate Moon Void of
Course as selected events. Now fixed.
* Dynamic reports - saving selections with Moon Void of Course did
not retain that setting when re-opened. Now fixed.
* Import files & settings - importing wheel files and pages from an
earlier version sometimes resulted in corrupted wheel style file
settings, which could lead to page draw errors. Workaround was for
user to manually reselect each wheel style under Chart Options /
Wheel Styles. Now fixed.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.21 - 15 Jul 2005
----------------------------
* Help File - Updated for latest changes.
* New Chart Preview popup menu options - A new popup menu has been
added to the chart preview on the main screen (use RH mouse click).
It is possible to switch off the chart wheel in the preview, and to
show text details and chart comments instead. This can be selected
via a right hand mouse click over the preview wheel.
* Chart text preview caption size - The font size used for the
chart details preview may be adjusted. To control this option, an
entry like the following must be added into the [Solar Fire]
section of the SOLFIRE6.INI file: "PreviewCaptionFontSize=11.25".
If the PreviewCaptionFontSize is not present, then the caption font
size is 12.75 points. If this entry is present, then the given
value is used (typical available font sizes are 8.25, 9, 11.25,
12.75, for example). NB - This option only affects the caption font
size when the user has switched off the preview wheel. If the
preview wheel is option is selected, then the font size is
automatically fixed at 8.25.
* Longitude entry - if entering longitude in first degree east
eg. "0E18" then this was auto-converted to "0W00", because the
"E" was recognised as an exponent. Workaround was to leave a blank
before the E ("0 E18"). Now fixed.
* Emailing charts - could crash when attempting to email SFv6
format chart files which include comments. Now fixed. Also emailed
chart file name could be given incorrect file extension by email
client if another file of the same name has been emailed
previously. Hence now generates a unique filename each time.
* Interps / Synastry Report - if selecting a subsidiary type chart
for a report, then the name used in the report was the event name
rather than the base chart's name, and was therefore blank if no
event name had been entered. Now uses the base chart name if there
is no event name.
* Asteroid files - if an asteroid selection file was edited, the
new selection only took effect after restarting Solar Fire. Now
Fixed.
* House/Degree Almutens - When scoring for degree almutens,
triplicity scores for the out of sect and additional triplicity
rulers were ignored. These are now included in the scoring (though
their scores are set to zero by default, so would not be included
anyway unless they have been edited the user).
* Electional Search - added Copy button to copy results to
clipboard as text.
* Black Moon - added an option in the Preferences / Calculations
tab. This allows a choice between the mean apogee and true
(osculating) apogee for the Black Moon. Previously only the mean
apogee was used.
* ACS Atlas - Timezone changes lookup for Denpasar, Indonesia
caused crash, due to inconsistency in ACS tables. Now fixed.
* Reports - Modulus sort and midpoint listings did not include
South Node. South Node has now been added for those modulus values
where the North and South Nodes would not have the same value in
that modulus.
* Obliquity of Ecliptic - chart angle calculations use mean
obliquity. An option has been added to use true obliquity (ie.
including nutation) instead. To activate this option, the following
entry must be added into the [Solar Fire] section of the
SOLFIRE6.INI fileL "UseTrueObliquity=-1". Note that this option
typically makes only a very small difference to chart angles,
usually equivalent to less than one second of time.
* Chart Search Results / Print - when multiple charts selected for
printing, was printing only one chart's details. Now fixed.
* Chart Search Results - user can now use Ctrl+A keys to select
all entries in list.
* New ETConv.exe v2.0.5 - ASCII definition was not initialised
unless specifically selected from the drop-downlist box after the
program was first started. This caused multiple spurious recorsds
to be read in from ASCII files. Now fixed.
* Full Aspect Grid for single chart - displayed transit aspect orbs
instead of natal aspect orbs if chart was identified as a transits
type chart. Now always uses natal orbs, regardless of chart type.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.20 - 10 May 2005
----------------------------
* Chart Database / Find all charts with... - after highlighting
all found charts, the count of selected charts was erroneously
set to zero. Now fixed.
* Date Entry (Swedish regional settings) - failed to recognise
date entered with blanks separating day/month/year parts. Now
fixed.
* Chart and Electional Search / Phases - phase calculation
produced spurious results. Now fixed.
* User Arc Rate Directed Charts - was applying incorrect arc for
specified time since radix date. Now fixed.
* Electional Search / Coordinates - searching for a condition with
a point being equal to a particular coordinate value produces no
results. This is expected, because the electional search cannot
find an instantaneous event. However, a warning message is now
provided if the user attempts to do this.
* Electional Search / Coordinates - searching for a point within a
coordinate range of several degrees or less would often not
produce any result, even when it was expected to. This is because
the default calculation time step was too long. The default
calculation time step has now been reduced to allow for specified
coordinate ranges down to 1 degree of arc.
* Main screen toolbars - on Windows 95, displayed items were
left-justifed instead of centred. Now fixed.

Version 6.0.19 - 18 Apr 2005
----------------------------
* Importing chart files - chart comments were not imported. Now
fixed.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.18 - 15 Apr 2005
----------------------------
* Location Toolbar - Clicking on date/time/zone/place boxes on main
screen caused crash if Current Settings panel was not visible. Now
fixed.
* Swiss Ephemeris - updated to v1.67, with most recent observed
and predicted DeltaT values (ie. variantions in earth's rate of
rotation).
* Aspect Patterns - sample pattern diagram was erased if any other
dialog was moved in front of it. Now remains permanent.
* ACS Atlas - if standalone atlas was present, it was only detected
if the "path=" entry in acsatlas.ini contained a final backslah.
Now fixed, so that atlas is detected even if no final backslash is
present.
* Chart Search / Print / Selected Charts - did not recognise that
any charts were selected. Now fixed.
* Extra ring points - if extra points refer to invalid file entries
(eg. an arabic part index number which does not exist in the
current arabic parts file), then the user received "subscript out
of range" error. Now fixed - any invalid points are omitted from
the listing, so the page can still be viewed.
* New ETConv.exe v2.0.4 - imported comments to *.SFcht files were
corrupted. Now fixed.
* Chart and Electional Search / Phases - phase boundaries were
displaced by half the phase width. Now fixed.
* Printing a chart whilst no chart was displayed (eg. using Print
button on toolbar) produced error message "Subscript out of range".
Now fixed.
* Electional Search - if search condition included an aspect for
which entering and leaving orb were both set to zero, then a crash
occured when the search was started. Now fixed - user is instead
issued with error message explaining that orbs must be greate than
zero for electional searches.
* Search Column headers - possible crash if click on timezone
column header to sort by timezone. Now fixed. Also now buffers all
chart details in memory - hence much quicker list processing and
sorting.
* Animation and Realtime Clock - appeared to use high CPU load,
even when stepping slowly. This was misleading, as actual CPU load
is not very high when running in clock mode. A small code
modification has been made which frees the CPU monitor, thus now
showing less CPU load.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.17 - 17 Mar 2005
----------------------------
* Column Headers - attempting to drag and drop column header onto
another column header results in crash. Affects Chart Search
results, Electional Search results, and Chart Open dialog. Now
fixed.
* Chart Details column headers - when editing column headers using
the Choose Columns dialog, attempting to move a column header up
or down the list by clicking on the Move Up or Move Down buttons
would cause a crash if either of the adjacent column headers in the
list were not switched on. Now fixed.
* Arabic Parts Editor - failed to run if spin32.ocx not present,
which is not installed with Solar Fire Deluxe. Now changed to use
mscomct2.ocx instead. (New PartEdit.exe v2.0.6).
* Chinese Lunar Mansions - Updated ChLunMan.fst - 5th lunar mansion
defined by Al Niyat instead of Antares.
* Solar Live - added Solar Live Options to Help menu, to allow user
to switch off Solar Live without having to display Solar Live
first, which could sometimes prompt for a connection to internet if
not already connected.
* Dynamic report - directions - reports show times of day of hits
for directions, although this is generally not useful, due to
relatively slow rates of direction.Hence times have now been
removed for diections, and consquently report generation is also
now significantly faster for directions.

Version 6.0.16 - 02 Mar 2005

* Save image to PDF - failed if selected PDF file name did not
already exist. Now fixed.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.15 - 21 Feb 2005
----------------------------
* Extra Ring Points with Harmonic charts - when using a user-
specified harmonic number, overflow error occured. Now fixed.
* File Manager / Chart Files - did not always initially highlight
currently selected chart file. Now does so.
* Reports - minimizing screen caused crash. Now fixed.
* Animation - after editing page, new page layout/objects are not
shown until form is resized. Now shows new page layout immediately.
* Unidirectional aspects - when this was switched on as an advanced
option in the current aspect set, then additional spurious aspects
appeared in inter-aspected biwheels and synastry grids. Now fixed.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.14 - 15 Feb 2005
----------------------------
* Astrologers Assistant Tasks - tasks involving lunar phase charts
showed incorrect method names when displayed in task list editor
(but still worked correctly). Correct names are now shown.
* Emailing charts - when emailing charts in SFv6 format chart file,
the file extension was ".cht". This can be opened without problem
in Solar Fire Deluxe, but cannot be opened in Solar Fire v5 or
earlier. This extension has now been changed to ".SFcht", so that
those recipients with earlier versions of Solar Fire will not
inadvertantly try to open it.
* Viewing Charts - if view chart window was minimised, then
attempting to view a new chart resulted in a page draw error,
and the image was blank. Now fixed.
* Extra Ring Points - arc directed and harmonic charts had
incorrect positions for extra ring points. Now fixed.
* Timemap and Dynamic Report View windows - always opened in
center of screen. Now remembers last position.
* Parallax Moon in Lunar Phase charts, Prenatal Charts & Extra
Chart Points involving lunar position or phase, Hylegs & Almutens
with points involving lunar position or phase - was being
calculated for equatorial location instead of chart location. Now
fixed.
* Progress.int - minor text updates.
* Extra wheel file - added SgnRuler.wh1 (Showing Sign Rulers), and
edited description of DecRuler.wh1 (Showing Decanate Rulers).
* Extra task files - created LunPhEcl.tsk - to cast prenatal
eclipse chart and corresponding exact lunar phase chart. Created
DynSArcs.tsk - to generate dynamic report with Solar Arcs x1, x2,
x0.5 all in one report.
* Lunar Phase charts (New or Full Moon Syzygy) - was finding full
moons only. Now fixed.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.13 - 09 Feb 2005
----------------------------
* Copying charts - if copying from SFv6 format file, got multiple
copies of wrong chart. Now fixed.
* Deleting selected charts - if chart file sort order was not in
file order, then incorrect charts may have been deleted. Also, if
user selected to confirm each deletion, and then chose cancel, then
all remaining charts in the file were also deleted. Now fixed.
* Emailing charts - options to include comments and events along
with the chart data itself did not always work. Now fixed.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.12 - 07 Feb 2005
----------------------------
* Help file - updated with recent changes, and fixed several
misdirected context links.
* Animation - after exporting to fixed chart view page and then
quitting, focus returned to main screen instead of animation screen.
Now fixed.
* Chart Preview from Chart Search showing aspect pattern - if
preview chart window was resized, all aspects became visible,
instead of just that pattern's aspects. Now fixed.
* Chart Search Results and Electional Search Result - unchecking
Chart Preview checkbox did not close Chart Preview window. Now
fixed.
* Chart Selection in Animation - Transits charts sometimes had
missing chart type label. Now fixed.
* Email for Tech Support - added info regarding screen DPI. Also now
prompt user to check for program updates before emailing for tech
support.
* Chart Options menu as popup - when invoked from Report View, Chart
View or Animation screen, caused main screen to become invisible
whilst menu was displayed. Now main screen remains visible.
* Popup menu over main screen Calculated charts - removed Chart
Search item from this popup menu.
* Page Object - Flexible aspect definitions - may now be anchored at
bottom.
* Copy to PDF - could crash if PDF file already in use. Now checks
whether PDF file already in use and gives message instead.
* Copy Graphic Ephemeris to PDF - reduced line thicknesses for better
aesthetics.
* Copy Chart Page to PDF - wheel and grid lines were thicker than
lines in other page objects. Now made more consistent. Also aspect
lines had no colour. Now fixed.
* Chart Details Column Headers - after editing, reverted to default
widths. Now retains last user-specified widths, instead. Also,
screens with Large Fonts had initial column sizes which were smaller
than optimum. Now increased.
* Reports - Asteroids report columns slightly shifted to make more
room for long asteroid names.
* Solar Live - Check for updates relied on difference between local
date and date on server (which could be misleading due to different
timezones). Now only uses server date, for consistency.
* Chart Search Results - after sorting list of charts by clicking on
columns headers, preview and chart open refered to wrong chart. Now
fixed.
* Date toggle - Toggling month gives error mesage if day number is
greater than end of new month (eg. 31 Feb). Now automatically resets
day number to maximum day of that month.
* Displayed Transiting Points - now uses these points as a "filter"
against Displayed Points ie. only those points switched on in both
Displayed Transiting Points AND Displayed Points are shown in
transits charts. Hence, the "Displayed Transiting Points" should
have ALL points switched on apart from those points you do NOT want
to see eg. all on except chart angles and Moon. Also added
AllPoint.trp, NoMonAng.trp, NoAngles.trp, NoInners.trp for this
purpose.
* Updated WhData.pag - small adjusment to improve layout aesthetics.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.11 - 31 Jan 2005
----------------------------
* ACS Atlas lookups - now automatically internally converts
Australian state abbreviations to full country name, in order
to ensure that charts originally cast using Solar Fire Atlas
can be re-looked up in ACS atlas without having to reprompt the
user for the country name.
* Flexible Aspects List Page Object - could cause page draw
error if aspect set had a user-defined aspect which was switched
off. Now fixed.
* Aspecting from Transit charts - added INI option to allow change
in aspecting behaviour. "UseTranOrbsForTranCharts=x" where x = 0
for same behaviour as SFv5, or x = 1 for transits charts in wheels
and grids to use transit orbs instead of natal orbs.
* Displays with "Large Fonts" - Chart caption text on displayed
pages were larger than optimum. Now slightly reduced.
* Printing Page Objects - some objects' fonts did not scale
correctly when printed (such as Modulus Sort Strip, Quadrant
Balances, Declination Strip). Now fixed.
* Import Default Location - if old default location was not an ACS
Atlas location (for example "Sydney, NSW", because "NSW" is not
recognised by ACS), then upon restarting, user was prompted to
select an ACS country name. Now fixed.
* Chart View - now automatically redraws after RH mouse click to
invoke Chart Options pop-up menu.
* Chart View - now allow page/charts/wheel style buttons to be
visible when window is sized down to 560 pixels height. Previously
these were not visible below 600 pixels height.
----------------------------
Version 6.0.10 - 28 Jan 2005

caused crash. Now fixed.
* Electional Search - choosing Animate button after searching for

Progressions interpretations. Now only imports this setting if old
setting in not "standard.int".
* Import settings - Copy option prompting for each file - now has
cancel button to allow user to quit copying any further files of
this type.
* Import files - Pottenger asteroid ephemerides - would rename
existing ephemeris files if already present. Now only imports these
files if existing files not already present.
* Import files - after import charts, chart file extension is set to
SFcht instead of cht, so default chart file appears to be empty
unless re-opened by clicking on File button.
* Import files - rearranged order of selectable items, to put most
desirable ones first, and less commonly required ones later. Also
set initial ticks to Charts, Default Place and Compliments, and
added text to indicate that these ones are recommended, as opposed
to others for advanced users only.
* Interpretations Dialog - Options / Word Processor Options actually
opened Date tab in Preferences dialog. Now fixed.
* Chart Options menu - after using Animation screen, and using RH
mouse click over a page object, the menu option to edit the
properties of that object remained available even after closing
the animation screen. Now fixed.
* Graphic Ephemeris - after stepping forward or back in time, chart
header box was blank. Now Fixed.
* Graphic Ephemeris - added Copy button with same functionality as
RH mouse click popup menu over graph.
